Sour Cream Sugar Cookies Christmas Tree

Get into the holiday spirit with these delectable Christmas tree-shaped Sour Cream Sugar Cookies. The tangy sour cream adds a wonderful depth of flavor to these cookies, and the festive decorations make them ideal for holiday gatherings and gifting.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Green food coloring

  • Assorted colorful sprinkles

Instructions:

Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl with a whisk

Mix the butter and sugar until they are light and fluffy in a different bowl

Add the egg, sour cream, and vanilla extract and mix them in well

Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients one at a time until a soft dough forms

Separate the dough into two pieces

To make one part green, add food coloring and knead it until the color is spread out evenly

Put both pieces of dough in the fridge for at least an hour after wrapping them in plastic wrap

Warm the oven up to 350F 175C and put parchment paper on a baking sheet

On a floured surface, roll out the green dough until it's about 1/4 inch thick

Using different-sized cookie cutters in the shape of Christmas trees, cut out tree shapes and place them on the baking sheet that has been prepared

After the oven is hot, bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden

Let the cookies cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before moving them to a wire rack to cool all the way

Cut out more tree shapes from the plain dough that you rolled out

Once all the cookies are cool, put a small amount of frosting on each green tree-shaped cookie

Each frosted cookie should have a plain tree-shaped cookie on top of it

This will make tree sandwich cookies

Add different colored sprinkles to the trees and gently press them into the frosting to make them look nice

Before you serve or store the cookies, let the frosting set
